ST. PAUL SOFTWARE MAKER CODEWEAVERS CONTINUE ATTEMPT TO MOTIVATE PRESIDENT BUSH BY OFFERING SOFTWARE FOR ALL

The CodeWeavers Lame Duck Presidential Challenge

CEO Addresses Nation on Challenge Status at lameduck.codeweavers.com; Invites Bush to Lunch at Jimmy Johns

SAINT PAUL, Minn. (August 28, 2008) - With the Republican National Convention (RNC) to be mere blocks from its humble offices in Saint Paul, gadfly software developer CodeWeavers, Inc., is broadening its offer to make its product free for every American if President Bush meets any of five goals in the final months of his term.

CodeWeavers Chief Executive Officer Jeremy White is inviting Bush to meet with him during the RNC to discuss its CodeWeavers Great American Lame Duck Presidential Challenge, which it presents in detail at lameduck.codeweavers.com.

With a staff of ten open source software fanatics jacked up on peanuts, Red Bull and ingenuity, CodeWeavers – whose software lets Mac OS X and Linux users run Windows programs - launched the challenge last month to motivate Bush to make the most of his final days in office by helping make at least one of the following happen January 20:

  • Reduce gas prices to $2.79 per gallon
  • Reduce the average price of a gallon of milk to $3.50
  • Create at least one net job in the U.S. this calendar year
  • Return the median home price in the Twin Cities to $233,000
  • Bring Osama Bin-Laden to justice

Once Bush meets a goal, CodeWeavers will offer its software for free for 24 hours on the first day of the following month. More at lameduck.codeweavers.com.

The RNC is Here? No Way!

White said he had no idea the RNC was coming to Saint Paul until last week.

"I've been really busy and distracted, " White explained, "what with the Minnesota Twins in the pennant race, a stack of work so high you want to leap out of your skin, and of course launching this challenge (which by the way could put us out of business if Mr. Bush accomplishes anything.)"

"Then, last week, I was in the men's room, and there was a Saint Paul Pioneer Press on the stall railing. Lo and behold, the GOP convention is coming here! Right here! It really reignited my lame duck challenge fire."

White is "addressing the nation" on the challenge by video at lameduck.codeweavers.com. And, he is inviting Bush and his administration to lunch during the RNC.

"I'd love to review our goals with the President and members of his staff over a nice sandwich," he said. "We have a Jimmy John's just around the corner. The number four on French…I mean Freedom…bread is dynamite."

"I'll tell the President, hopefully without onions hanging from my mouth, that as a parent and small business owner, I'm serious about the challenge," White added. "With elections approaching, the nation's business languishes. Yet, our country is at war, and facing a faltering economy, rising oil prices and myriad other challenges. It is imperative we don't waste the remaining months. Even if we go out of business doing this, it will have been worth it. It's for the good of the nation."
